Play therapy helps children to explore their feelings, it helps them express themselves and to make sense of their life experiences. The child's natural medium of communication is through play and a child is given the opportunity to convey what they're feeling without having to use words. Children express themselves using media such as drawing and painting, sand trays, water, clay, construction, puppets, role play, therapeutic stories, movement and music.
Talking about problems can be hard for children. A child may not have the words to describe how they're feeling or understand why they are behaving as they do. Play therapy provides the expertise and time to do this through play. It enables children to communicate through their natural means of expression, play and creativity.
